3. Wash The Green Beans

Fill the bowl containing the green beans with water.
Don't fill the bowl with water at the top to prevent the green beans from falling down into the sink.
Using one or both hands, pick up some green beans and then drop the green beans back into the water. Repeat about three to five times.
Using the pick up and drop technique, water is being moved around the bowl. The power of the moving water removes the dirt from the green beans.
The dirt removed from the green beans is on the bottom of the bowl.
Suggestion: Use a taller bowl or pot to clean the green beans because the taller height better separates the green beans and the dirt settling on the bottom.

Repeat cleaning all the green beans and placed in a colander.
Clean all the green beans a second time to make sure all the dirt are removed. Before cleaning the green beans the second time, dump the water from the bowl outside the home or apartment, rinse the bowl to remove the remaining dirt, and fill the bowl with clean water. The reason why the water should be dumped outside is to prevent the dirt from clogging the plumbing pipes.

When the water is boiling, place the green beans into the pot.

The longer the green beans are cooking, the softer the green beans are.
Suggestion: You may start boiling the water earlier to shorten the cooking time.
